Commercial advertisement is a way to attract customers. Advertising includes those activities by which visual or oral messages are addressed to the public for the purpose of informing them and influencing them to buy goods or services. A successful advertisement can blow one’s mind. The most successful businessman is he who knows the secret of effective advertisement. The real worth of an article is of little importance, what a matter is the way in which public attention is drawn towards it. A clever advertiser can draw the money out of the pockets of even the most cautious and miserly customers.

One of the important medium of advertisement adopted is the press which can reach the largest readership. The radio, the cinema, the television etc are other medium of advertisement. The most fashionable method of present day advertising campaigns is to show the images of very young and very beautiful in ads. Advertisement can help the public in choosing and buying the best in the market. However advertisement can mislead the customers. Advertisement for harmful products has their baneful effects on the buyers. There is need for protecting from such advertisement. If more money is spent on the advertisement, there is likely to result in two evils. Either the goods will cost more than they are worth or the quality of goods will be third rate.
